41 “then you answered and said to me, ‘we have sinned against יהוה. we ourselves are going up, and we shall fight, as יהוה our elohim commanded us.’ and when each one of you had girded on his battle gear, you were ready to go up into the mountain.
42 “and יהוה said to me, ‘say to them, “do not go up nor fight, for i am not in your midst, lest you be smitten before your enemies.” ’
43 “so i spoke to you, but you would not listen and rebelled against the mouth of יהוה, and acted proudly, and went up into the mountain.
44 “then the amorites who dwelt in that mountain came out against you and chased you as bees do, and drove you back from sĕʽir to hormah.
45 “and you returned and wept before יהוה, but יהוה would not listen to your voice nor give ear to you.
46 “so you dwelt in qaḏĕsh many days, according to the days that you dwelt.
26 ‘see, i am setting before you today a blessing and a curse:
27 the blessing, when you obey the commands of יהוה your elohim which i command you today;
28 and the curse, if you do not obey the commands of יהוה your elohim, but turn aside from the way which i command you today, to go after other mighty ones which you have not known.
1 “and it shall be, when all these words come upon you, the blessing and the curse which i have set before you, and you shall bring them back to your heart among all the gentiles where יהוה your elohim drives you,
2 and shall turn back to יהוה your elohim and obey his voice, according to all that i command you today, with all your heart and with all your being, you and your children,
3 then יהוה your elohim shall turn back your captivity, and shall have compassion on you, and he shall turn back and gather you from all the peoples where יהוה your elohim has scattered you.
4 “if any of you are driven out to the farthest parts under the heavens, from there יהוה your elohim does gather you, and from there he does take you.
5 “and יהוה your elohim shall bring you to the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it. and he shall do good to you, and increase you more than your fathers.
6 “and יהוה your elohim shall circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, to love יהוה your elohim with all your heart and with all your being, so that you might live,
7 and יהוה your elohim shall put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.
8 “and you shall turn back and obey the voice of יהוה and do all his commands which i command you today.
nevi'im - prophets
1 look, the hand of יהוה has not become too short to save, nor his ear too heavy to hear.
2 but your crookedness have separated you from your elohim. and your sins have hidden his face from you, from hearing.
3 for your hands have been defiled with blood, and your fingers with crookedness; your lips have spoken falsehood, your tongue mutters unrighteousness...
8 the way of peace they have not known, and there is no right-ruling in their ways. they have made crooked paths for themselves, whoever treads in them shall not know peace.
26 “as the thief is ashamed when he is found out, so is the house of yisra’ĕl ashamed – they and their sovereigns and their heads, and their priests and their prophets,
27 saying to a tree, ‘you are my father,’ and to a stone, ‘you gave birth to me.’ for they have turned their back to me, and not their face. but in the time of their calamity they say, ‘arise and save us.’
9 and יהוה said to me, “there is a conspiracy among the men of yehuḏah and among the inhabitants of yerushalayim.
10 “they have turned back to the crookednesses of their forefathers who refused to hear my words, and they have gone after other mighty ones to serve them. the house of yisra’ĕl and the house of yehuḏah have broken my covenant i made with their fathers.”
11 therefore thus said יהוה, “see, i am bringing evil on them which they are unable to escape. then they shall cry out to me, but i shall not listen to them.
18 ‘but if they are prophets, and if the word of יהוה is with them, let them now make intercession to יהוה of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of יהוה, and in the house of the sovereign of yehuḏah, and at yerushalayim, shall not go to baḇel.’
19 “for thus said יהוה of hosts concerning the columns, and concerning the sea, and concerning the stands, and concerning the remainder of the vessels which are left in this city,
20 which neḇuḵaḏnetstsar the sovereign of baḇel did not take, when he exiled yeḵonyah the son of yehoyaqim, the sovereign of yehuḏah, from yerushalayim to baḇel, and all the nobles of yehuḏah and yerushalayim –
21 thus said יהוה of hosts, the elohim of yisra’ĕl, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of יהוה, and in the house of the sovereign of yehuḏah and of yerushalayim:
22 ‘they shall be brought to baḇel, and be there until the day that i visit them,’ declares יהוה. ‘then i shall bring them back and restore them to this place.’ ”
1 and it came to be in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth of the month, as i was among the exiles by the river keḇar, the heavens were opened and i saw visions of elohim.
2 on the fifth of the month, in the fifth year of sovereign yehoyaḵin’s exile,
3 the word of יהוה came expressly to yeḥezqĕl the priest, the son of buzi, in the land of the chaldeans by the river keḇar. and the hand of יהוה came upon him there.
4 and i looked and saw a whirlwind coming out of the north, a great cloud with fire flashing itself. and brightness was all around it, and out of its midst like glowing metal, out of the midst of the fire,
5 and out of the midst of it came what looked like four living creatures. and this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man.
6 and each one had four faces, and each one had four wings.
7 and their feet were straight feet, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calves’ foot. and they sparkled like the appearance of polished bronze,
:8 and under their wings on their four sides were the hands of a man. and each of the four had faces and wings –
9 their wings touched one another. they did not turn when they went, but each one went straight forward.
10 and the likeness of their faces: the face of a man, and each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, and each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and each of the four had the face of an eagle.
11 such were their faces. their wings were spread upward, two of each touched one another, and two covered their bodies.
12 and each one went straight forward, going wherever the spirit was to go, and they did not turn when they went.
13 and the likeness of the living creatures: their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of torches, moving back and forth among the living creatures. and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went lightning.
14 and the living creatures ran back and forth, like the appearance of a flash of lightning.
15 and i looked at the living creatures, and saw a wheel on the earth beside each living creature with its four faces.
16 the appearance of the wheels and their works was like the appearance of beryl, and all four had the same form. the appearance of their works was, as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
17 when they went, they went in any one of four directions, they did not turn aside when they went.
18 and their rims were high and awesome, and their rims were covered with eyes, all around the four of them.
9 “thus said יהוה of hosts, ‘execute true right-ruling, show kindness and compassion everyone to his brother.
10 “do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the stranger or the poor. and do not plot evil in your hearts against one another.’
11 “but they refused to listen, and they shrugged their shoulders, and stopped their ears from hearing.
12 “and they made their hearts like flint against hearing the torah, and the words, which יהוה of hosts had sent by his spirit through the former prophets. therefore great wrath came from יהוה of hosts.
13 “and it came to be: as he called and they did not hear, so let them call, but i shall not hear,” said יהוה of hosts.
14 “and i scattered them with a storm wind among all the gentiles which they had not known. and the land was laid waste behind them, no one passing through or returning, for they made the pleasant land a waste.”
ket'vim - wisdom literature
3 and shelomoh loved יהוה, walking in the laws of his father dawiḏ, except that he slaughtered and burned incense at the high places.
4 and the sovereign went to gibʽon to slaughter there, for that was the great high place. shelomoh offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
5 at gibʽon יהוה appeared to shelomoh in a dream by night, and elohim said, “ask what i should give you.”
6 and shelomoh said, “you have shown great kindness to your servant dawiḏ my father, as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you. and you have guarded for him this great kindness, and did give him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7 “and now, o יהוה my elohim, you have set up your servant to reign instead of my father dawiḏ. but i am a little child, i do not know how to go out or to come in.
8 “and your servant is in the midst of your people whom you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted.
9 “shall you then give to your servant an understanding heart to rule your people, to discern between good and evil? for who is able to rule this great people of yours?”
10 and the word was good in the eyes of יהוה, that shelomoh had asked this.
11 so elohim said to him, “because you have asked this, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself discernment to understand right-ruling,
12 see, i shall do according to your words. see, i shall give you a wise and understanding heart, so that there was none like you before you, and none like you shall arise after you.
13 “and i shall also give you what you have not asked: both riches and esteem, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the sovereigns all your days.
14 “and if you walk in my ways, to guard my laws and my commands, as your father dawiḏ walked, then i shall prolong your days.”

25 “because of this i say to you, do not worry about your life, what you shall eat or drink, or about your body, what you shall put on. is not life more than the food and the body more than the clothing?
26 “look at the birds of the heaven, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into storehouses, yet your heavenly father does feed them. are you not worth more than they?
27 “and which of you by worrying is able to add one cubit to his life’s span?
28 “so why do you worry about clothing? note well the lilies of the field, how they grow. they neither toil nor spin,
29 and I say to you that even shelomoh in all his esteem was not dressed like one of these.
30 “but if elohim so clothes the grass of the field, which exists today, and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more you, o you of little belief?
31 “do not worry then, saying, ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘what shall we drink?’ or ‘what shall we wear?’
32 “for all these the gentiles seek for. and your heavenly father knows that you need all these.
33 “but seek first the reign of elohim, and his righteousness, and all these matters shall be added to you.
34 “do not, then, worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow shall have its own worries.each day has enough evil of itself.
7 “ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you.
8 “for everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened.
9 “or is there a man among you who, if his son asks for bread, shall give him a stone?
10 “or if he asks for a fish, shall he give him a snake?
5 “for many shall come in my name, saying, ‘i am the messiah,’ and they shall lead many astray.
8 and he said, “see that you are not led astray, for many shall come in my name, saying, ‘i am,’ and, ‘the time is near.’ then do not go after them.
43 “i have come in my father’s name and you do not receive me, if another comes in his own name, him you would receive
13 “and whatever you ask in my name, that i shall do, in order that the father might be esteemed in the son.
14 “if you ask whatever in my name, i shall do it...
26 “but the helper, the set-apart spirit, whom the father shall send in my name, he shall teach you all, and remind you of all that i said to you
16 “you did not choose me, but i chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the father in my name he might give you.
23 “and in that day you shall ask me none at all. truly, truly, i say to you, whatever you ask the father in my name he shall give you.
24 “until now you have asked naught in my name. ask, and you shall receive, in order that your joy might be complete.
25 “these words i have spoken to you in figures of speech, but an hour is coming when i shall no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but i shall declare the father plainly to you.
26 “in that day you shall ask in my name, and i do not say to you that i shall pray the father on your behalf
22 and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we guard his commands and do what is pleasing in his sight
14 and this is the boldness that we have in him, that if we ask whatever according to his desire, he hears us.
2 you desire, and do not have. you murder, and are jealous, and are unable to obtain. you strive and fight, and you do not possess, because you do not ask.
3 you ask and do not receive, because you ask evilly, in order to spend it on your pleasures.
