1 look, the hand of יהוה has not become too short to save, nor his ear too heavy to hear.

2 but your crookednesses have separated you from your elohim. and your sins have hidden his face from you, from hearing.

3 for your hands have been defiled with blood, and your fingers with crookedness; your lips have spoken falsehood, your tongue mutters unrighteousness.

11 “but you are those who forsake יהוה, who forget my set-apart mountain, who prepare a table for gad, and who fill a drink offering for meni.

12 “and i shall allot you to the sword, and let you all bow down to the slaughter, because i called and you did not answer, i spoke and you did not hear, and you did evil before my eyes and chose that in which i did not delight.”

26 “as the thief is ashamed when he is found out, so is the house of yisra’ĕl ashamed – they and their sovereigns and their heads, and their priests and their prophets,

27 saying to a tree, ‘you are my father,’ and to a stone, ‘you gave birth to me.’ for they have turned their back to me, and not their face. but in the time of their calamity they say, ‘arise and save us.’

28 “but where are your mighty ones that you have made for yourselves? let them arise, see if they save you in the time of your calamity. because your mighty ones have become as many as your cities, O yehuḏah.

29 “why do you complain to me? you all have transgressed against me,” declares יהוה.

30 “in vain have i smitten your children – they received no instruction. your sword has devoured your prophets like a destroying lion.

31 “o generation, see the word of יהוה! have i been a wilderness to yisra’ĕl, or a land of darkness? why do my people say, ‘we have broken loose; we come to you no more’?

18 ‘but if they are prophets, and if the word of יהוה is with them, let them now make intercession to יהוה of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of יהוה, and in the house of the sovereign of yehuḏah, and at yerushalayim, shall not go to baḇel.’

5 and he said to me, “son of man, please lift your eyes toward the north.” and i lifted my eyes northward, and north of the altar gate i saw this image of jealousy in the entrance.

6 and he said to me, “son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations which the house of yisra’ĕl are doing here, driving me away from my set-apart place? and you are to see still greater abominations.”

7 then he brought me to the door of the court. and i looked and saw a hole in the wall.

8 and he said to me, “son of man, please dig into the wall.” and when i dug into the wall i saw a door.

9 and he said to me, “go in, and see the evil abominations which they are doing there.”

10 and i went in and looked and saw all kinds of creeping creatures, abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of yisra’ĕl, carved all around on the walls.

11 and facing them stood seventy men of the elders of the house of yisra’ĕl, and in their midst stood yaʽazanyahu son of shaphan. each one had a censer in his hand, and a thick cloud of incense went up.

12 and he said to me, “son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of yisra’ĕl are doing in the dark, each one in the room of his idols? for they say, ‘יהוה does not see us, יהוה has forsaken the land.’ ”

13 and he said to me, “you are to see still greater abominations which they are doing.”

14 and he brought me to the door of the north gate of the house of יהוה, and i saw women sitting there, weeping for tammuz.

15 then he said to me, “have you seen this, o son of man? you are to see still greater abominations than these.”

16 and he brought me into the inner court of the house of יהוה. and there, at the door of the hĕḵal of יהוה, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the hĕḵal of יהוה and their faces toward the east, and they were bowing themselves eastward to the sun.

17 and he said to me, “have you seen, o son of man? is it a small matter to the house of yehuḏah to do the abominations which they have done here? for they have filled the land with violence, and turn back to provoke me. and see, they are putting the branch to my nose.

18 “therefore i shall indeed deal in wrath. my eye shall not pardon nor would i spare. and they shall cry in my ears with a loud voice, but i shall not hear them.”

9 “thus said יהוה of hosts, ‘execute true right-ruling, show kindness and compassion everyone to his brother.

10 “do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the stranger or the poor. and do not plot evil in your hearts against one another.’

11 “but they refused to listen, and they shrugged their shoulders, and stopped their ears from hearing.

12 “and they made their hearts like flint against hearing the torah, and the words, which יהוה of hosts had sent by his spirit through the former prophets. therefore great wrath came from יהוה of hosts.

13 “and it came to be: as he called and they did not hear, so let them call, but i shall not hear,” said יהוה of hosts.

18 if i have seen wickedness in my heart, יהוה would not hear.

12 who is the man who desires life, who loves many days, in order to see good?

13 keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.

14 turn away from evil and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

15 the eyes of יהוה are on the righteous, and his ears unto their cry.

16 the face of יהוה is against evil-doers, to cut off their remembrance from the earth.

17 the righteous cried out, and יהוה heard, and delivered them out of all their distresses.

18 יהוה is near to the broken-hearted, and saves those whose spirit is crushed.

19 many are the evils of the righteous, but יהוה delivers him out of them all.

14:12 - 13

12 “truly, truly, i say to you, he who believes in me, the works that i do he shall do also. and greater works than these he shall do, because i go to my father.

13 “and whatever you ask in my name, that i shall do, in order that the father might be esteemed in the son.

7 “if you stay in me, and my words stay in you, you shall ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.

23 “and in that day you shall ask me none at all. truly, truly, i say to you, whatever you ask the father in my name he shall give you.

24 “until now you have asked naught in my name. ask, and you shall receive, in order that your joy might be complete.

25 “these words i have spoken to you in figures of speech, but an hour is coming when i shall no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but i shall declare the father plainly to you.

26 “in that day you shall ask in my name, and i do not say to you that i shall pray the father on your behalf,

27 for the father himself does love you, because you have loved me, and have believed that i came forth from elohim.
