his name:

what does the term “his name” refer to?

mattithyahu (matthew)‬ ‭12:18-21‬ ‭ see, my servant whom i have chosen, my beloved in whom my being did delight. i shall put my spirit upon him, and he shall declare right-ruling to the nations. “he shall not strive nor cry out, nor shall anyone hear his voice in the streets. “a crushed reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench, till he brings forth right-ruling forever. “and the nations shall trust in *his name.*”

matt 12:18-21 is a paraphrase, and comes from:

yeshayah (isaiah)‬ ‭42:1-3‬ see, my servant whom i uphold, my chosen one my being has delighted in! i have put my spirit upon him; he brings forth right-ruling to the nations. “he does not cry out, nor lifts up his voice, nor causes his voice to be heard in the street. “a crushed reed he does not break, and smoking flax he does not quench. *he brings forth right-ruling in accordance with truth.*

the matt quote ends with: *and the nations shall trust in his name,* when i shoot the arrow back to the tenakh to see the source definition of what it means, then we find the definition in the yeshayah quote that ends with: *he brings forth right-ruling in accordance with truth.*

so, to trust in someones name is to trust in the right-ruling that person does in truth.

now what is truth?  tehillim (psalms)‬ ‭119:43‬-44‭ and do not take away from my mouth the word of *truth* entirely, for i have waited for your *right-rulings.* that i might guard your torah continually, forever and ever

‭‭

tehillim (psalms)‬ ‭119:142‬ your righteousness is righteousness forever, and *your torah is truth.*

tehillim (psalms)‬ ‭119:151‬ ‭ you are near, o יהוה, and *all your commands are truth.*

‭‭

‭‭‭ tehillim (psalms)‬ ‭119:160‬ *the sum of your word is truth,* and all your *righteous right-rulings* are forever.

yoḥanan (john)‬ ‭17:17‬ ‭set them apart in your truth – *your word is truth.*

‭‭

when we read the whole of matt 12 and yes 42 it refers to the same idee, that the name of yhwh is his torah.

hazon (revelation)‬ ‭19:13‬ ‭ and having been dressed in a robe dipped in blood – and his name is called: *the word of יהוה.*

yoḥanan (john)‬ ‭1:14 and *the word became flesh and pitched his tent among us,* and we saw his esteem, esteem *as of an only brought-forth of a father*, complete in favour and truth.”‭‭‭

…and with the above said, do you understand this verse differently?

yoḥanan (john)‬ ‭5:43‬ ‭ *i have come in my father’s name* and you do not receive me, if another comes in his own name, him you would receive.
